Chicken Time – Norwood

Chicken Time has been around for over 23 years and has three stores in Adelaide. The Norwood store is located on the western side of The Parade and is situated on a nice corner position opposite Norwood oval. The store specialises in the use of Ingham free range chickens, however, they also offer your traditional chicken shop fare, such as burgers, yiros, hot packs, seafood and salads.

For lunch, I ordered the Lamb AB. The meal was ready 10 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented on a plate. The lamb was well marinated and provided in generous amounts with the meat to chip ratio about 50-50. For the most part, the meat was dry and a few of the pieces were fatty.

The amount of sauce provided was adequate but they could have been a bit more generous. The garlic sauce had a nice thick consistency and the chilli sauce was equivalent to the Masterfoods Hot Chilli sauce variety. A really good chilli sauce is an essential requirement for a classic AB.

The chips were medium in thickness and were fried to perfection. They were nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the centre. The amount of salt applied was satisfactory.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. The cost of the Lamb AB set me back $15 which was reasonable. I could barely finish the meal which indicated it was a good serving size.
