Saray Kebab is located on Henley Beach Road in Torrensville amongst various shops and eateries. The decor is modern and well presented with prominent use of black and white. Entrance into the place is via aluminium bi-fold doors which also maximises the amount of natural light. As their name suggests, charcoal cooked kebabs are their specialty, but if that doesn’t take your fancy, there are pides, soups, wraps, burgers, salads, dips, pizzas and Turkish dishes to choose from.
For lunch, I ordered a Turkish Pizza (also known as Lahmacun). The meal is made fresh and I was told there would be a 15 minute wait after ordering. My friend’s Chicken Yiros arrived a lot earlier than my dish, however, when it finally arrived, the presentation wasn’t too bad. The meal served on a nice wooden chopping board with chopped up lettuce and lemon wedges. The Turkish Pizza was oval in shape and a decent size, taking up all of the board.
The topping consisted of minced lamb, tomatoes, sumac, paprika and garlic. All the ingredients were well refined to the point it looked like various colours on a pizza base. The crust was thin and crispy, and it was almost like eating a biscuit. Taste-wise, it was just too salty.

My friend had the Chicken Yiros and was quite pleased with her meal.

The staff were friendly and the service was ok. Table water was provided without us asking, however, plates were never cleared while we were there. I also felt they could have timed the dishes so that both came out at the same time. The atmosphere was relaxed but became vibrant when the lunch time customers started flocking in. The pricing is fairly reasonable depending on what you get. A pide or Turkish pizza will set you back $6.50 while the most expensive large pizza is around the $15 mark. Some of the Turkish dishes are more expensive but not over the top.
I wouldn’t rule out coming back to this place but I would probably order something else next time.
