Fat Chicken is a chicken shop franchise with 4 stores in Adelaide and another store interstate. The menu has your typical offerings of chicken, chips, burgers, seafood and salad. The chickens that they use are Lilydale free range, while the seafood is fresh and their salads are home made.
For lunch, I ordered the Chicken AB. I would normally order a Lamb AB, but this place is more known for their chicken. The meal was ready after a 10 minute wait and was average in presentation. The chicken was tender, succulent and well marinated. There was a decent amount of meat as the proportional to the amount of chips. The chips were the thin variety and were nice and crispy on the outside. The sauces I had with my AB were garlic, tomato and hot chilli. They were really conservative with the sauces and the AB just tasted really dry.
The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. People don’t normally dine in at this store as there are so few seats. The pricing is fairly reasonable with my AB setting me back $10.90. It was a good size without going overboard.
Verdict: Their chicken is tasty but their AB’s could be better.
