Taste of Bollywood is an Indian restaurant located on Port Road near the South Road intersection. While it doesn’t look like much from the outside, the store itself is deceptively spacious with a long and narrow floor plan. In line with the restaurant title, there are two film strips with the faces of Bollywood actors along the two main walls. Other than that, it’s just a basically decorated place that combines neutral and dark colour tones.
Today, I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh with a side serve of rice and garlic naan bread. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. The lamb was lean, tender and succulent. The curry sauce had a nice thick consistency, a deep red colour, and was sublime. The rice was perfectly cooked and consisted of nice individual grains. The garlic naan was piping hot although the taste of garlic was not prominent. The serving size was satisfactory as the rice to curry ratio was about one to one.

My friend, Cookie, ordered her usual, the Butter Chicken. She’s a regular at this place and highly recommends the food here.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The waitresses were attentive without being overbearing. They served drinks promptly and they cleared the plates as we finished. They actually looked like they enjoyed working here. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing represented good value. My dish was $11.90 and was very satisfying.
