Gaucho’s

Gaucho’s certainly has a very good reputation. My cousin visiting from Sydney for the first time even knew about this place. I’ve been here many times over the years and I must say, this place has never disappointed. The decor is traditional, the atmosphere is vibrant and the service is excellent. As with all Argentinian restaurants, the pricing is a bit higher than usual, particularly when the steak prices range from $37 to $180, but here you get quality.

On this occasion, I ordered the 350g Scotch Fillet Steak. Surprisingly, all meals came out within 15 minutes of ordering and at the same time. My steak was tender, lean, succulent and perfectly cooked. The combination of raw garlic and chimichurri sauce was a match made in heaven. The roast potatoes were fantastic. Golden and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.

The reason why I come to Argentinian restaurants is for their chimichurri sauce, and they make it particularly good at this place. A perfect combination of garlic, coriander, parsley, oil, vinegar and chilli. The sauce is thick and there is enough chilli to give it that kick. I loved it so much I was practically bathing my steak in it.

I do think the prices at this place are a bit high as they are cashing in on their good reputation. My friend paid $8 for a minute amount of mushroom sauce, but then again, everything on the menu was a bit pricey. Other than that, I can find few very faults with this place. This place has been in business for the last 25 years and they certainly know how to cook steak!
