It’s Saturday night and a dozen friends and myself decide to check out an Indian restaurant called Shankers. Located on Prospect Road, this place offers all your traditional Indian cuisine as well as some dishes from Singapore. When I called this place to make a booking, I was told that there would be a long wait for our meals due to the busy weekend crowd. The staff here were friendly, however we did find them to be inattentive when we needed them.
A small group of us decided to order the banquet. As the staff member indicated on the phone, the food was going to take a while to arrive. Entrees arrived about 30 minutes after ordering. The Vegetable Baji was nicely spiced and not too oily. The Vegetable Samosa was subtle in flavour and the pastry was well cooked. The Vegetable Curry Puff was OK.
Another 30 minutes after the entree, the main meals arrived. The great thing about the banquet is that the main meals are unlimited. The beef was lean in the Beef Vindaloo and it wasn’t too spicy. The lamb was succulent and tender in the Lamb Madras. The Chicken Tikka Masala was nicely flavoured although I would have preferred they used chicken breast instead of thigh meat. The Yoghurt Salad was refreshing and surprisingly good.

Finally, we had Mango Kulfi for dessert. After several rounds of main meals, there was hardly any room for dessert, but it was nice none the less.
In my opinion, not the best place for Indian food in Adelaide, but not the worst either.
