Hello, Stranger

At the site that was once L.Law Bistro, is a newly opened cafe, Hello, Stranger. The whole space has been given a new lease on life with changes to the decor and the expansion of the bar space. Their coffee is sourced locally from Altura, as are the fresh pastries from Prove Pastry and Cheffery’s Kitchen. Of course, the real reason for our visit was to check out their Asian fusion menu.

Buttermilk Pancakes

There’s no better way to start the morning than with soft, fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Accompanied with a fruit compote, maple syrup and a delicious homemade cheese cream, this is the perfect start to any meal!

Teriyaki Dog

The Teriyaki Dog takes hot dogs to the next level and gives it that Asian twist. The hot dog sausage is wrapped in a thin cheesy egg omelette. The base of the soft milk bun roll is filled with a crunchy coleslaw and topped with katsuobushi flakes and teriyaki sauce. It’s sweet, crunchy and delicious!

Bulgogi Burger

It wouldn’t be a cafe if you didn’t have a burger on the menu. It has all the elements of a delicious burger (beef patty, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, lettuce, red onion, mayo) with the addition of a sweet bulgogi sauce. Add a serving of crunchy french fries and your meal is complete!

Spicy Corn Ribs

We know that corn ribs are all the rage at the moment, however, these baked corn ribs have a lovely kick to them due to the paprika dust. They’re sweet and juicy, and fortunately, not too messy to eat.

Panko-crumbed Takoyaki

We love a twist on a classic dish, and we must say, these takoyaki are the best we’ve had. The exterior is extra crunchy, and within the mash interior, there are generous morsels of octopus.

Scallop & Prawn Gambass

We never thought we’d see a dish like this on the menu but it was quite exceptional. Generous amounts of juicy scallops and prawns were swimming in a pool of extra virgin olive oil. Into the mix were slices of garlic and thyme. The dish was accompanied by grilled sourdough which was a perfect match to the delicious gambass.

My Favourite Matcha Tiramisu

My Favourite Matcha Tiramisu is literally my favourite matcha tiramisu! Some people can find matcha dishes a little off putting by its bitterness, however, not with this dish! The matcha mascarpone is creamy and sweet with only a hint of bitterness. It’s perfectly complemented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A great way to end the meal!

We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the menu was! Every dish that we tried on this carefully curated menu was executed to perfection. This local cafe is sure to be our regular from now on.
