Electra House Hotel is playing host this weekend to a fresh new festival celebrating wine, gin and spirits that goes by the name of City & Vines.
Bringing the vines to the CBD for an Adelaide-first, City & Vines showcases the best of South Australian, interstate and international wines, spirits and beers across three spacious floors of Electra House Hotel.
An arrival, guests receive a branded stemless wine glass with the presentation of their General Admission ticket. Tokens for half-glass wine tastings are $2.50 and can be purchased from a token stall located on the ground floor on the day.
On the Ground Floor in the new lounge bar known as The Post Master’s Quarters, kick back and relax in the Whisky Lounge where The Exchange Premium Spirits Brand Ambassador Erica Richards will take you on an intimate 45-minute Fine & Rare Whisk(e)y Masterclass experience through four of the world’s finest distilleries. With sessions running on Saturday and Sunday at 12pm, tickets are $45 and strictly limited to 30 people per session.
For a breath of fresh air, escape to the Bombay Gin Garden Bar on the ground floor outdoor terrace where DJ Tim Boss is pumping out tunes on Saturday from 2 – 6pm, and Skin Contact is playing on Sunday from 2 – 6pm.
Wind your way around a labyrinth of stalls on Level One, where you have the chance to mingle with a variety of winemakers and producers and be introduced to their product ranges.
Food is also available to purchase from the Level One Restaurant on the first floor, where a variety of cheese boards, grazing platters and appetisers are on offer.
Barrel Chats are held at various stalls across the venue all weekend long, where you can learn more about the winemaking industry from experts such as Charlie Black, Sean Baxter, Jono Koerner and Jodie Armstrong.
The Second Floor has been transformed into a Gin & Spritz Loft and is playing host to an interactive gin-making masterclass bright and early on Sunday morning at 9am. Using any or all of the twelve botanicals provided by Rowland Short of Settlers Spirits, you can become the gin-maker and bottle your best recipe in a take-home bottle. Spaces are strictly limited, and the ticket price of $75 per person includes your own bottle of gin as well as a celebratory G&T at the end of the class.
