The best burgers on Australia’s tropical East-Coast have landed in Adelaide’s revitalised East End with the grand opening of Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co.
Established in 2014 in the tropical town of Noosa, Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. currently has over sixteen stores across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and now South Australia.
Occupying the former American Apparel site, Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. offers indoor and outdoor seating for up to 145 people in a 1950s American-style diner complete with neon signage, colourful furniture and hanging plants.
Served in retro pastel-coloured packaging, Betty’s signature burgers are based around four different protein varieties: classic beef, fried chicken, crispy pork belly and even mushroom for those that are vegetarian.
Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. invited Adelaide Food Central for a taste of all the hype and anticipation before their official opening on Sunday 30 December.
For a timeless, traditional beef burger, look no further than Betty’s Classic! Sitting between two soft brioche buns were layers of vibrant green lettuce, juicy tomato, onion and melted Old English cheese. It was the thick and succulent Angus beef patty that well and truly stole the show, along with Betty’s mayo-based special sauce mixed with a variety of signature herbs and spices.
For those who prefer their white meat, the Crispy Chicken burger was just as equally mouth-watering and filling. Surrounded by lush lettuce leaves and tomato was a generous piece of Southern fried chicken, coated in a golden brown batter to reveal the tender chicken breast inside. Served with a drizzle of Betty’s special sauce between two fluffy buns, this burger offers a satisfying crispy crunch with every bite.
An American-style classic straight from the grill, the Pork Belly is the ultimate hearty burger for all those meat lovers out there. A thick slab of crispy pork belly lies at the centre of layers of lettuce, tomato and two burger buns. To contrast the pork belly, spicy pickled vegetables add an ever so slight kick, whilst a dash of Sriracha mayo offers a creamy, cooling touch.
A step above Betty’s Classic is Betty’s Deluxe, which comes with a hefty Angus beef patty and plenty of all-American burger filling classics. Along with rashers upon rashers of bacon comes pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, melted cheese and Betty’s special sauce.
Crispy Chicken Supreme
Closely rivalling KFC’s signature original recipe burgers, the Crispy Chicken Supreme is all you could ever ask for in a chicken burger. It’s Betty’s golden southern fried chicken that steals the show, accompanied with flame-grilled bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and brought together with Betty’s special sauce.
Sitting atop the burger throne is Betty’s Double, with double the ingredients, and double the deliciousness! Cheese and beef are served twofold, with rashers of crispy bacon lying at the burger’s centre. Packed with all your classic favourites such as pickles, onion, American mustard and tomato sauce, this whopping burger makes for a filling feast
For those with an endless appetite, you can choose to add sides to your burger to make it a meal! Sides to choose from include classic French Fries with sea salt seasoning and crisp fried beer battered Onion Rings.
Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. also specialise in their signature “concretes”: rich and creamy frozen custard that sticks to the side of the cup quite literally like concrete! Flavours include Peanut Butter Brittle, Cookie Butter, Chocolate Hazelnut Donut, Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake and Almond Toffee Marshmallow. For just $1 per mix-in, you can choose from a variety of sweet treats to add to the mix and customise your own concrete creation!
Located on the corner of Rundle and Bent Streets, Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. is open 11am – 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am – 11pm Fridays and Saturdays.
